TUC Mural, 1985

“A mural depicting the history of the labour movement – starting with the machine breakers and ending with the big strikes by printers, dockers and miners – had adorned the TUC’s education centre in north London, but fell foul of New Labour commercialism. The mural painted 15 years ago by Paul Butler and Desmond Rochford, ….. But wall …is in a room recently by the TUC for conferences, and the mural was painted over, despite calls to preserve it.”
